Fun Bus Guide To...
Camper Spotting
After a summer on the road we've realised that VW campers can be broken down into just a few 'types'. Of course some will fit into more than one category and some will be on their way to becoming one of the types by the addition of the appropriate kind of stickers and accessories. Which one is yours?

Classic
Not a spot of rust
Classic

Description... These campers are 100% original/authentic with immaculate paintwork and often sport colour co-ordinated awnings and plastic crockery.
Stickers... Type Two Owners club.
Most likely to be seen at....Vanfest.

World tourer
World Tourer
World tourer

Description... Kitted out with bull/roo bars, double spare wheel, dents, petrol and water cans on the roof rack.
Stickers... GB.
Most likely to be seen... middle of a desert.

Pink!
Camp? Just a little!!
Camp

Description... Although not necessarily gay, these vans don't mind being pink or leopard print. They glitter and shine with fluffy upholstery. A little bit naughty and always fun!
Stickers... 'Go all the way in a rusty bay!'.
Most likely to be seen in... Brighton.

Empi-tastic!
Empi epitome
Empi

Description... Lowered, alloy wheel rims (probably Empis, hence the name), tinted windows, with turbo charged engine and a sound-system to make your ears bleed.
Stickers... 'No Fear'
Most likely to be seen in.... Newquay.

Surfing!
Everybody's going surfin'!
Surf

Description... Could be an 'Empi' with board racks or more likely a slightly faded 70's van with driftwood on the dash. Rusty around the edges from all the salty sea air.
Stickers... Ripcurl, Surfers Against Sewage.
Most likely to be seen in.... a windswept beach carpark or lay-by.

Pink!
"Perfect for mixing cement in!"
Type what?

Description... The owners of this type of van only bought it because it was dirt cheap and had room to carry their ladders on top and rubble in the back. The panels will be in mis-matched colours with lots rust and/or primer.
Stickers... faded half-melted and peeling.
Most likely to be seen in.... a rubble filled front yard.

*Note the pictured van is actually one being restored but was the closest to a builder's van I could find!

Families love campervans!
Family Van - Kids, buckets and spades
The Family Bus

Description... These owners have children aged from newborn to eleven and regard the van as a fun family holiday option. They'll have a baby seat in the front, toys on the roof rack and more than two bikes on the back.
Stickers... "Thomas The Tank Engine Fun Fun Day 2002", "We Love Euro Disney!"
Most likely to be seen in.... uk tourist town or miserable midge infested swampy campsite

Peace and Love man!
Groovy baby!
Hippy Wagon

Description... Surreal paintwork inspired by everything from Hindu art to Salvador Dali. They're out to spread peace and save the world.
Stickers... CND, Greenpeace
Most likely to be seen... on route to a protest with placades in the back, or Goa.
