You can read about the last time we went to Vanfest in 2001 also on this site. It was quite a different experience this time. The main difference this year was the rain and the mud.
Having arrived so late after work last time we decided to book Friday off work to give ourselves plenty of time to get there and relax. Unfortunately as we got closer to Great Malvern the skies got darker and the rain began. The showground was almost full and it was a challenge to find a spot to camp. After a few minutes stuck in a queue due to a van already stuck in the mud, Mark took the initiative and reversed in to a gap without being directed there. The rain got heavier and heavier and the mud turned to a lake. We went to bed hoping that Saturday would be better.
In the morning the rain had stopped but the mud under foot was worse than ever. We did well keeping the van tidy but it was a hassle not being able to spread our things outdoors.
